In 2026, the Lowell High School Girls Basketball program introduced the Hard Hat Award. This is an honor that speaks to the very foundation of what it means to be a Red Devil.
The hard hat is a symbol of a blue-collar mentality. This mentality is a way of life that emphasizes hard work, discipline, and productivity. Blue-collar workers do not wait for perfect conditions or seek outside recognition. They are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. They take deep pride in the results of their labor and understand there is always more work to be done.
This is something we hope to instill in every player who puts on a Red Devils uniform.
Each week, our coaching staff presents the Hard Hat Award to the player who embodies this spirit. It goes to someone who put in the work during practice and then carried that effort onto the court when it mattered. It is not always the player who scores the most points. It is the player who sets the tone for the team.
At the end of each season, the coaching staff selects one player whose body of work throughout the year best represents the blue-collar mentality this program is built on. That player earns the right to keep the hard hat as a lasting reminder of what she gave to this program and what this program gave to her.
